The Friends of Beebe Memorial Library holds their annual Book Sale on the first Saturday in June, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., rain or shine. The Sale is held in the wheelchair accessible Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church located on Common and Lafayette Streets in Wakefield, MA. Admission is free.
Friday 6-9 p.m. is the special preview night for Friends' Members.
The Friends accept donations of:
Hardcover and Paperback Books Fiction/Nonfiction
Adults' / Children's Literature
DVD, CDs Books on Tape
Where to donate:
Small quantities of books may be dropped off at Lucius Beebe Memorial Library.
For large quantities of books, arrange for a pick-up. Contact: Jody Sherman at 781/245-3631
Unfortunately, textbooks, condensed books, water damaged or heavily damaged books, books without covers, and magazines cannot be used.
Memberships for May through the Book Sale were up 4.3% from last year, with
over 500 registered members of the Friends of Beebe Library. And, Book Sale
proceeds were over 2% from last year, our highest total ever.
Congratulations to Jody Sherman and the scores and scores of volunteers who
worked so hard to make the Book Sale a smashing success.
In a time of cut backs, it's gratifying that a group of dedicated volunteers
work so tirelessly to protect and support a vital town institution. The
Friends truly are dedicated to sustaining this excellent and important
resource. Lend your membership support to assist in maintaining the Beebe
Library's book collection and special services more than ever during this
time of economic challenges.
