The Annual Book Sale preparation starts months in advance as donations are gathered and roughly presorted. A week before, a convoy of volunteers hauls hundreds of boxes and crates to the First Baptist Church across from the Common. Dozens more help unpack boxes and sort the materials into many fiction, non-fiction and media categories By Friday 6pm when the Members Preview is ready to open, shoppers have been lined up for hours. Worker bees, easily recognizable in their green aprons, buzz around offering assistance. This is the largest fundraising event for the Friends and provides the funds to support museum passes, programs and much more.
